Welcome to Heart to Heart Equine Assisted Therapy
Heart to Heart is operated by Judith Emond in Meredith, between Geelong and Ballarat, and offers animal-assisted therapy for children, teenagers and adults in relaxing rural surrounds that include eucalypts, a fragrant cottage garden, creek, horses, dogs, a cat, chickens and native birds.
Equine-assisted therapy is effective in treating mental health challenges, and improving coregulation, self-efficacy, communication skills, attachment and relationship-building.
Animal-assisted therapy in a nature-based setting is grounding and offers a different experience to office-based therapies. This can be less stressful than talking one-on-one with a therapist, particular for people with autism or social challenges.
Horses are non-judgmental, empathetic and build trust and self-esteem. They have developed over thousands of years to ‘tune in’ to body language and respond to the influence of others around them. Equine-assisted therapy draws on this skill to promote and teach self-reflection, mindfulness, grounding and self-regulation. There is strictly no riding involved.
Judith is a registered Clinical Family Therapist and accredited Mental Health Social Worker, and Centre for Equine Experiential Learning Facilitator. She is a registered Medicare and NDIS provider. Read more about Judith here.
This service gladly welcomes LGBTQI+, non-binary and culturally diverse people of all abilities.
Heart to Heart acknowledges the Wadawurrung people of the Kulin nations as the Traditional Owners of the country and waterways on which we conduct our business. We pay our respects to the Wadawurrung elders past, present and emerging.
